Rotorua Sights and Geothermal Region
This morning after being picked up from your accommodation you will ride a genuine amphibious World War 2 landing craft around Rotorua City seeing historic buildings, hot springs, geothermal wonders and much more before you splashdown into two lakes. The two lakes are Lake Tikitapu (Blue Lake), Rotorua's most recreational lake and Lake Okareka.
Next we will head to Te Puia where you get to explore Whakarewarewa Geothermal Valley, visit New Zealand's native kiwi bird and learn Maori history and culture. The main attraction in the Whakarewarewa Geothermal Valley is Pohutu Geyser which is the largest active geyser in the Southern Hemisphere. It sometimes reaches heights of 30 metres. There is over 500 geothermal wonders in the valley. Te Puia is home to the New Zealand Maori Arts and Crafts Institute and you can watch students and tutor carve from wood, stone and bone.
We will then travel back to your accommodation.
